For most
verbs, just add –ing to the base form of the verb.
sleep

If the base
form ends in a single -e, drop the -e and add –ing.

form ends in –ie, change the –ie to –y and add –ing.

If the last
3 letters of the base form are consonant-vowel-consonant and the stress
is on the final (or only) syllable, double the final consonant and add –ing.
